About this project

ZTC provided structural design, manufacturing, delivery and assembly for this two-storey home. The timber frame walls incorporate factory-installed wood fibre insulation, with plywood used in place of a vapour control membrane. An airtightness test achieved n₅₀ = 0.24 h⁻¹. A bespoke 3.8 × 4.6 m welded frame in the living room carries the roof load and supports the façade system.

"Dear ZTC, Now in our second year, we remain truly happy and grateful that we chose ZTC to build our home, both for the quality of the work and for the time invested in developing the technical design and refining the details. Special thanks to project manager Mārtiņš for the time he spent advising us and explaining the finer points. ZTC has ultimately built us a truly fantastic home, despite several challenges that the team had to resolve: - combining timber construction with a load-bearing metal structure that also serves as a window frame, developed in collaboration with window manufacturer i2 Factory; - using a membrane-free solution, achieving airtightness with plywood in place of a vapour control membrane; - meeting a target air change rate of no more than n₅₀ = 0.7 h⁻¹, with the blower door test achieving an excellent result of 0.24 h⁻¹. Thank you very much for the time and work you invested in building such a high-quality home. We have seen the quality of the workmanship for ourselves and have also received positive feedback from everyone we worked with to complete the interior finishes."
